KTM offers affordable racing at the European Hill Climb Championship in Rechberg
The Rechberg hillclimb enjoys cult status in Austria. At just over five kilometres long, the twisting route ascends through the idyllic countryside surrounding the village of Rechberg. The event has grown in popularity since 1972, and now has an excellent reputation on the international hillclimb racing scene. The ‘Rechbergrennen’ (Rechberg Run) not only features prominently in the Austrian Hill Climb Championship, but is also on the FIA European Hill Climb Championship and the FIA Historic Hill Climb Championship calendars.
For 2009, the 37th International Rechbergrennen, known as the “Große Bergpreis von Österreich” (the Austrian Hillclimb Grand Prix) is the opening event of the European Hill Climb Championship, and is expected to attract around 200 competitors from across Europe. The event always attracts huge crowds; in 2008 the over 35,000 fans enjoyed the race and the equally spectacular setting.
Together with the Austrian Motorsport Association (OSK), and the race organisers, (the MSC Bruck an der Mur), KTM is delighted to offer all X-BOW owners the sensational opportunity to participate in this year’s competition, mixing it with the international hillclimb racing stars.
The “KTM X-BOW Hillclimb Battle” offers owners the opportunity to experience thrilling competitive motorsport in an affordable package, fully supported by KTM. X-BOW owners can compete with their road-legal, fully homologated X-BOW, and will experience technical scrutineering, drivers’ briefing, three practice runs and two timed competitive runs.
In addition to seeing their times posted among the overall results, X-BOW drivers will also be able to compare their performance with other owners in a dedicated class administered by KTM. X-BOW competitors will also benefit from technical assistance from KTM’s own onsite support team, who will be on hand to guide them through the race weekend.
